Over the past few days, social media exploded with claims that Apple bought ChatGPT, the world’s most popular AI. But… is it true?
🛑 Spoiler: NO! Apple did NOT buy ChatGPT.
ChatGPT is still owned by OpenAI, a company originally co-founded by Elon Musk, Sam Altman, and other tech visionaries. Its main partner today is Microsoft, which has already invested over $10 billion into OpenAI. In fact, ChatGPT is already integrated into Microsoft products like Bing, Word, Excel, and more.
So, why is everyone saying Apple bought it?
➡️ The confusion came from rumors about AI integration in future iPhones and a possible Apple-OpenAI partnership.
On top of that, Apple is reportedly working on its own AI model, internally nicknamed “Apple GPT,” to compete with ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and others.
